Avatar - My take!

I recently got a chance to sit through the most hyped movie of the year, "Avatar". What impressed me, the most, will be the imagination and the creativity that has gone in creating the planet Pandora. The movie was awesome for its great visuals and awesome CGI. It was really ground breaking stuff, no questions asked! Well the term "3D" looked more to be the "Vogue" necessity than a real requirement for the movie. Anyway nowadays any CGI movie must be tagged with the 3D term, not mention the 10bucks we have to pay extra at Satyam for those crappy glasses. Now that the good things about the movie are away, what was the director doing when screenplay and story lines were discussed. As lots of people have pointed out on the net, the story is nothing but a high budget copy of the Tamil/Malayalam movie "Vietnam Colony". Initially when I read about it on the net, I didn’t believe it, but after watching the movie I really missed Goundamani there :-). Heard it took 14 years to make this movie a reality, I would say it would not have needed more than 25days to figure out the story before going about the graphics. It was also mentioned, James Cameron was convinced about this movie after watching Gollum in LOTR, yeah doesnt mean I should be watching a romantic chick flick where a Gollum loves another Gollum, their parent Gollums disagree and there are goon Gollums to keep the audience engaged! Comon, if there is a fair verdict to be given I would say the story was really pathetic. Had the movie not crossed 90mins, I wouldn’t have bothered, but for 2.5hrs I think the term "story and screenplay" are really essential. I think 14 years of being away from movie making,i believe the director thought the audience are still morons who would take anything if you have CGI in it. Well as audience, we have progressed, atleast! The best anecdote to this will be to look ONLY into the positive aspect of the movie, the CGI. Other than that i dont see anything positive to take from the movie.Hmmm ...I believe we will have to wait for the next Pixar movie to be kept entertained. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I am BACK!

Can you believe my last blog posting was almost 2 years back! Ofcourse, it is really a long time. The urge to blog then was more towards understanding what this culture is all about. When the "new thing" mania waned so did my interest towards blogging. Hmmmm ...I can hear your "Now, why are you back?" question, well cant explain the why part, but the sudden interest to share stuff again has brought me back here. So here i am to start my second innings with blogspot. Hope i survive and sustain ;-)
